Linguistic Quality Assurance for Slovenian,
Croatian, and Serbian
IOLAR offers new service to our clients:
Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) for Croatian, Serbian
and Slovenian.
Iolar is now offering LQA to our clients not only as a
part of our localization process, but also as a
standalone service.
LQA team consists of language specialists with a diploma
from the specific language and/or IT technologies.
They are experts in developing new terminology in the
ever-changing field of information technology, in
supervising its usage and in ensuring consistency in
software, help, documentation and Web content
localization. The new service also includes checking of
style, morphology, and spelling. On demand we maintain
and update terminology databases for our clients.
Linguistic Quality Assurance is performed in controlled
environment according to precisely defined procedure and
with defined quality assurance criteria, among others
also random spot checks during the projects. All the
data is available to the client on demand.
The service is provided by Iolar teams in language
specific areas.
• Slovenian is done in the headquarters in Ljubljana (Slovenia)
• Croation is done in the office in Zagreb (Croatia)
• Serbian is done in Belgrade (Serbia and Monte Negro).
The teams are closely linked and exchange knowledge and
experiences, providing even higher quality of service.
By providing this service IOLAR is trying to meet the
needs and requests of our clients to the highest
possible extent. Our greatest reward for being committed
to high quality and beauty of specific language are
satisfied users of localized products.

New Computer And Information
Lexicon in Slovene
Pasadena Press ltd. published a new book "Leksikon
računalništva in informatike" by different authors,
among them the most deserving David Pahor and Matija
Drobnič. Almost 800 pages contain more than 5000 terms
where you can find the majority of contemporary Slovene
computer terminology. By convincingly introducing fine,
in word formation innovative and semantically correct
terms into the field of computer science the book
represents the milestone of contemporary usage
comprehension of Slovene language. Hopefully, this
extensive book will convince even the most stubborn
promoters of all-English in computers; it is not only a
collection of Slovene computer terminology from the last
20 or more years but it represents also a standard, a
kind of computer dictionary. Thus, the »Computer And
Information Lexicon« conveniently complements the gap
from last year's »Slovene Spelling«: the computer terms.
In IOLAR we are especially proud because we creatively
helped compiling the lexicon and in this way contributed
from our rich terminology treasure, which after long
years of localization cleared out innumerable precious
word jewels.

How we localized Windows XP
Localization of Microsoft products into Slovene has had
quite a history. It started in 1994, when localization
of Microsoft Word 6 was entrusted to the group today
united in the company Iolar ltd. An interesting detail
is, that Word 6 came on nine 3.5-inch floppies. Iolar
successfully localized also the subsequent Microsoft
products: Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000, Office XP,
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows ME,
including the last version, Windows XP.

Introduction of Slovene version
of Windows XP Professional
On Thursday March 7, 2002 Microsoft Slovenija introduced
the Slovene version of Windows XP Professional operating
system. As Mr. Grega Kukec said upon this occasion,
which took place in Kolosej, Ljubljana, this is the
first operating system localized in Slovene that is
based on Windows NT/2000 technology. We are pleased to
add that the company Iolar again took part in the
localization of this highly important operating system.
We used our abundant experiences and technical skills,
which we have been gathering since 1995, when we
localized
Windows 95
operating system. The experiences and our continuous
growth in both, technical and linguistic sphere, enable
us to successfully cope with the projects of such
difficulty and scale.
