computer-aided translation

Out translation staff are well versed in the use many machine and computer-aided translation tools. In everyday work they use such tools as TRADOS, StarTransit, IBM TM2, CorelCatalist and an in-house developed system based on a large custom lingual database. This consists of several electronic dictionaries that have been compiled through the years by Iolar and packed with the knowledge from a myriad of technical areas in which our translation experts excel.

The terminology to be used in the a chosen translation project is firstly determined and formed in-house and vetted in numerous conferences and consultations between the project team and other Iolar specialists. The glossaries are then given to our Quality assurance team to be additionally confirmed.

Once the preliminary project glossaries have been also checked and confirmed by our client, all the Iolar staff participating in the project can be fully acquainted with and briefed on the new terminology to be used for the specific project and possibly on any special or new translation tools the project calls for.

At Iolar, we have found that a judicious and intelligent use of modern computer-aided translation applications can significantly speed-up the the translation process. A central pool of linguistic and terminology knowledge can be thus centrally maintained in our company. This enables everyone involved in the translation project a chance to instantly access the latest findings while being capable of contributing new data themselves.

The final result is a more consistent and high-quality translation, produced faster than using conventional methods dating from past decades. Still, at Iolar we like to point out that in the end nothing will ever completely replace the human factor in the translation equation.
